The selection of heat pumps is subject to the following factors :

  1. Swimming pool volume
  2. Swimming water surface area
  3. The lowest outdoor temperature
  4. The design swimming pool water temperature
  5. The installation space available
  6. The electric power supply rating

The heat pump technical data given from manufacturers are used to estimate the heat-up time of the pool water from the low water temperature at cold season to the design pool water temperature.

It is accepted to heat up pool water in two days from very low pool water temperature (may be from 15 deg.C) when the heat pump plant is suspended for long time before heating the pool water.

Simplified calculation method can be used to estimated the heat time during different initial water temperatures. However, dynamic heating model can be used to calculate a more accurate heating time for selecting the heat pump. The dynamic heating model can be developed according the manufacturer’s heat pump performance table, the weather condition and the swimming pool size.

A demonstration example is attached for reference to our users.
